Sea Pines Eagle Cam

Bald eagles typically lay one to three eggs in late December or early January. Both parents take turns sitting on the eggs, which hatch in about 35 days. One parent stays with the young almost constantly for the first few weeks, and the chicks are full grown and ready to leave the nest at about 12 weeks. Nests like this one get reused year after year and can grow to 10 feet across. 

These are wild birds raising young in nature. Storms come through. Other eagles challenge them for the territory. Chicks compete with each other for food, prey items are consumed, and not every chick thrives. Any of it can play out on camera, sometimes without warning. We do not intervene when it does.  Most of what you see will be extraordinary. Some of it may be hard.  

Eagles are sensitive to human activity while nesting. To keep the birds undisturbed, the exact location of the nest is not shared publicly. We ask that viewers enjoy the pair from the screen rather than searching for the tree.
